A R Rahman nominated for 2011 Oscars Awards Twice - 127 Hours, If I Rise

The 25th of January A.R. Rahman has been nominated for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards twice. A.R. Rahman who has been nominated for two Oscars for the film ‘127 Hours’.

It feels fabulous, says the master composer. One for in Danny Boyle's flick titled 127 hours and the second for his original song "If I Rise" which is from the same flick. Earlier he had bagged three nominations and won two Oscars in the 81st Academy Awards for Danny Boyle's film Slumdog Millionaire. A.R. Rahman is ditched names like John Powell who has received the nomination for How To Train Your Dragon , Hans Zimmer for Inception, Alexandre Desplat for The King’s Speech, Trent Rezmor and Atticus Ross for The Social Network.

A. R. Rahman says “Getting nominated for the awards itself is a fabulous feeling. Winning is good too but, in the history of the awards, except possibly once, nobody has won it twice in a row.”

A.R. Rahman is an Indian film composer, record producer, musician and singer. His film scoring career began in the early 1990s. He has won fourteen Filmfare Awards, eleven Filmfare Awards South, four National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe. Rahman obtained a degree in western classical music from the Trinity College of Music in London.
