A R Rahman to perform If I Rise at Oscar Awards 2011

A. R. Rahman will be performing at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, which will be presented at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday, February 27, 2011. A.R. Rahman has been nominated for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards twice. A.R. Rahman who has been nominated for two Oscars for the film ‘127 Hours’.

A. R. Rahman had also performed at the Oscars in 2009 on his song "Jai ho" from Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire". He won two Oscars for his work in "Slumdog Millionaire".

A. R. Rahman will perform on "If I Rise" from his nominated film 127 Hours with British pop singer Florence Welch, of Florence + the Machine. However, the song was originally performed by Dido.

A.R. Rahman is an Indian film composer, record producer, musician and singer. His film scoring career began in the early 1990s. He has won fourteen Filmfare Awards, eleven Filmfare Awards South, four National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe. Rahman obtained a degree in western classical music from the Trinity College of Music in London.
