Black Swan 2010 - Golden Globe Nominee - oscar awards 2011

Black Swan is a 2010 American film directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel, and Mila Kunis. Variously described as a psychological thriller or a psychological horror film, its plot revolves around a production of Swan Lake by a prestigious New York City ballet company. One dancer, Nina (Portman), is a perfect fit for the White Swan, while Lily (Kunis) has a personality that matches the Black Swan.

A ballet dancer wins the lead in "Swan Lake" and is perfect for the role of the delicate White Swan, but slowly loses her mind as she becomes more and more like the evil twin sister of the White Swan, the Black Swan.

Director:
Darren Aronofsky
Writers:
Mark Heyman (screenplay), Andres Heinz (screenplay), and 2 more credits »
Stars:
Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Vincent Cassel

Black Swan: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack marks the fifth consecutive collaboration between Aronofsky and English composer Clint Mansell. Mansell attempted to score the film based on Tchaikovsky's ballet, but with radical changes to the music. Because of the use of Tchaikovsky's music, the score was deemed ineligible to be entered into the 2010 Academy Awards for Best Original Score.

starts with Portman, playing a fragile ballerina in a prestigious New York company. She’s dedicated her entire life to the pursuit of her art, enabled by an overly protective mother (Barbara Hershey) who gave up her own dancing career to become a parent. Kept in a state of perpetual childhood, Portman’s Nina yearns to show the world what she can do. Black Swan may not see an equal this year, and if there’s any justice in the world, it will reap the rewards well past this awards season.
